This camera watches the Soo Locks on the St. Marys River at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, run by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The locks raise and lower vessels around the rapids that separate Lake Superior from Lake Huron, a drop of about six metres. Long lake freighters and ore carriers ease through the chambers while the shipping season is open.
