This webcam faces Mount Merapi, the active stratovolcano that rises about 28 kilometres north of Yogyakarta on the Indonesian island of Java. Merapi is among the country's most active volcanoes, and thousands farm its lower slopes, so its lava dome is watched closely for rockfalls and pyroclastic flows. On clear days the cone stands sharp on the horizon; when it stirs you may catch glowing avalanches, weather permitting.
